A retail and office building in Jura limestone, its volumes stepped to meet the scale of the old town.

A contemporary building that behaves like an old one: heavy, quiet, and patient.

(01) Narrative

(01) Narrative

The building completes a city block at the edge of the medieval centre. Its volumes step back from the street in three stages, matching the eaves of its neighbours before rising to the height of the new district behind.

The facade is load-bearing Jura limestone, 40 cm deep. A single horizontal window on each volume frames a precise view: the cathedral, the river, the railway.

Heavy, quiet, and patient.
